The 2024 Florida Homebrew Competition Circuit began with the 2024 Coconut Cup awards ceremony, presented by the Miami Area Society of Homebrewers on March 9th, 2024.
A couple of our members were at the event to see the start of the season and collect any winning medals for Brewers Anonymous and our local area clubs.
Brewers Anonymous started the awards ceremony, winning the first medal announced.
Throughout the presentation, several clubs’ names were heard along with Brewers Anonymous: CASK, MASH, Hogtown, PUB, and SAAZ, just to name a few.
With many clubs doing well in this competition, it was hard to predict a definitive winner, though we felt Brewers Anonymous had a good chance of making the podium.
When the final announcements of the competition—the heavy medal club winners—were made, we were eager to see the results.
The announcement started with the club that had the third-most points, Cowford Ale Sharing Klub (CASK) in Jacksonville, FL.
Next was second place, and that went to the host club, the Miami Area Society of Homebrewers (MASH) in Miami, FL.
Now, it came down to the first-place club, and again, with so many clubs doing so well throughout the ceremony, we felt that Brewers Anonymous had an equal chance of being named next or missing the top three altogether.
To our surprise—to put it mildly—Brewers Anonymous was named the first-place winner of the Heavy Medal Club!
This win sets our season off to an exciting, if not unexpected, start! There’s still a lot of competitions left in the season, and we still have a lot of work to do!
Are we working our way to a repeat win of the Florida Homebrew Club of the Year title?
