Brewers Anonymous: December 2024 Meeting Recap

The December 2024 meeting of Brewers Anonymous, held at Ivanhoe Park Lager House, celebrated a stellar year for the homebrew club and outlined exciting plans for 2025. Here’s a quick recap of the highlights:

Meeting Highlights:

  • Final 2024 Interclub Competition: The theme was wood-aged beers, with top honors going to Graziani Miranda, John Saylor, and Eric Rodriguez.
  • Membership Renewals: Members are encouraged to renew for the 2025 season via the club’s website.

Festival Success:

  • Tom and Dan’s Bad at Business Beer Fest: A massive hit with 12 beers served, leaving only five nearly empty kegs. The club continues to build its reputation at festivals across Florida.

2024 Achievements:

  • 532 beers entered in competitions, earning 166 medals, including 19 Best of Show awards.
  • Two members received medals at the National Homebrew Competition.
  • Participated in 10 festivals and secured a repeat State Championship title.

Club Business:

  • 2025 Board Elections: The new board includes Mike Thompson (President), Matt (Vice President), Trevor Golden (Treasurer), JJ Ocampo (Secretary), and Ken McCord (Archivist).
  • New Roles: Nathan Kramer is now Festival Chair, and Kevin Mernon takes over as Social Media Chair.

BJCP Training Update:

  • Judging exam scheduled for July 19, 2025. Practice materials and a comprehensive online exam are available for members preparing to become certified judges.

Brewer of the Year:

Congratulations to Bill Carley for earning the Austin P. Harris Brewer of the Year award after an impressive year of brewing and competition.
